JustBeginning answers the question every new hobbyist asks: I just got into this — what do I actually need?

Most "best paddle" or "best beginner kayak" articles run 5,000 words because they're optimized for search engines, not for you. They list twelve options with mild distinctions, hedge on every recommendation, and bury the answer somewhere in the middle.

We do the opposite. Each guide names a small number of products that genuinely matter for someone starting out — best starter, budget pick, upgrade pick, sometimes a specialty pick — and stops there. We name what beginners get pressured to buy but shouldn't. We give you a concrete plan for your first week, including links to authoritative outside sources where they help.

The goal is something you'd actually send to a friend.

How we make money

We earn commission through Amazon affiliate links. When you click a product on our site and buy it on Amazon, we get a small percentage at no extra cost to you. That's how the lights stay on.

Editorial recommendations are independent of that revenue. Some products earn us more than others; we don't choose based on commission. If a product genuinely isn't a good starter pick, we leave it out — even when including it would pay more.
